Minutes of Meeting on Monday 10 April 2006

Present: J Fairbairn, S Raeside, V Kilgour, L Birrell, L Roger, R Pegden, L Ogilvie, R Spence
Apologies: P Douglas, P Duncan, J Peacock

1) Matters arising
Boarhills road signs. With the replacement of those either end of the Q17, they are now entirely satisfactory.
Flooding at Cardean.. Recent heavy rain caused near flooding as a result of the volume of water flowing down the Stonywynd farm road (a new development). The basic problem is the inability of the drains to cope.
No date has been fixed for the repair of the Stravithie Bridge, although it could be October.
Sorbie airfield and Lathokar road lay byes - no further developments.

2) J Fairbairn submitted the audited accounts for 2005/06. These were approved by the meeting. The main account stands at £203 and the supplementary (Dunino foot bridge) account is at £860. R Pegden is going to have a look at the bridge to see if some work could be done with the money we do have towards its conservation. L Roger to ask if there would be any money for this project in the Core Path funding. L Roger had been unable to get any response from the Locality Manager regarding a replacement notice board. It was agreed to try to source one locally, to be paid from the main account.
It appears that we may be paying for bin hire at the hall twice over. J Fairbairn to investigate.

3) L Roger outlined responses to recent planning applications (Sunnybraes and Brownhills).
The St Andrews Bay development was considered in more detail. In summary, it was agreed that the steading development was acceptable, but not the 37 additional houses. It was generally felt that this set a precedent for yet more building in the future, that the site, as potential green belt and an area of great landscape value, was unsuitable for a development of this nature, and that the architectural design was not in keeping with local style. However, as only 6 Boarhills residents actually attended this meeting, it could be concluded that the majority are fairly indifferent to the proposals!

4) Boarhills matters
It is hoped to have a beach clean up this spring.
It was agreed that the Community Council would join the Association of Scottish Community Councils, with S Raeside the principal contact, for a trial period of one year.
The chevrons at the bridge over the Kenly have not been replaced.

It is noted that the University have commissioned a feasibility study for wind turbines at Upper Kenly.
