S Stevenson described the plans the Stevenson family have recently lodged with the Council for 6-8 houses at Beley Bridge. Local residents expressed their preference for single storey buildings, and that the proposed location to the SE of the current settlement would be preferable over that to the SW. Discussion on road safety issues followed, with agreement that a speed restriction for Dunino running from Stravithie Mains to Beley Bridge would be highly desirable. MSH indicated that such restrictions now have precedent in the locality. The proposed new access would also be an advantage over the existing ones.
Fairmont St Andrews. D McG said that no date for the departure hearing has been set, and the Council have not yet decided whether plans of this nature will be decided at local level or centrally.
Flooding at Cardean. During recent deluges, water running off the main road was observed to flow on the opposite side of the carriage way to the drains.
The Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. M Craig had attended a recent meeting in St Andrews, and signs for the area will soon be forthcoming. These will be erected by the Council. The contact is now PC Joanne Frances. Vulnerable people in the community can qualify for a range of products which can improve their safety in the home. In addition, free UV pens for marking valuable items are available for anyone who applies, through the Community Council. A function for fund raising and raising the NWS is proposed for this autumn.
There will be Community Council Elections on 11 October 2007, with nomination papers due in by Thursday 13 September.
The Garden Open Day and Village Barbecue on Sunday 17 June raised £542 for the British Heart Foundation and Children 1st.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING:
